Although our companies do not typically concentrate on these product lines, we are often called upon to provide services for generators and motors. Our capabilities consist of typical disassembly, assembly and replacement of worn parts. Specifically on generators, we work closely with many of the independent electrical repair service organizations and often perform the mechanical services required on rotors such as dimensional checks, runout verifications and low speed balancing. We also remove and replace retaining rings, often upgrading to better materials and assist the electrical contractors with megger, PT and HIPOT testing in our facilities. Our high speed balancing facility has developed a unique series of full speed tests on rewound rotors which measure and detect shorted turns and wedge seating in operation. These are issues that are critical to find before reinstallation. Once found, they are easily corrected before installing the rewound field into the stator at the client's plant location.
